A Promise, Perfected

Engraved Solitaire Engagement Rings

An engraved solitaire engagement ring keeps one center stone and lets the metal carry the detail. These vintage-style settings feature engraved bands, XO motifs and floral carving, some with pavé or milgrain. Each comes in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver, and most take any center shape.

Buying guide

Why pair a solitaire with engraving

A solitaire puts all the attention on the center, so the band is the one place to add personality. Engraving gives texture without more stones, which keeps the ring sleek and easy to pair with a wedding band. Several designs here also add milgrain edges, a few add pavé shoulders with lab-grown diamond accents, and a few wrap the center in a bezel.

Patterns to choose from

  • Engraved bands: a repeating pattern around the shank.
  • XO and notched motifs: simple symbols cut into the metal.
  • Floral: leaves and petals for a softer look on several designs.
  • Cathedral and split shank: raised or divided shoulders on a few designs.

Center, metal and price

Most designs take round, oval, cushion, pear, marquise, heart and the other popular shapes, and most offer fancy-color centers in blue, pink, yellow or green. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Settings start under $200, and most fall between about $630 and $1,330. The center is chosen and priced in the next step.
