A Promise, Perfected

Channel Set Solitaire Engagement Rings

A channel set solitaire ring keeps one center on top and lines the band with lab-grown diamond accents held in a smooth metal channel. Choose a classic straight band, a wide band, a cathedral lift or a bypass split shank. Every setting fits ten center shapes and comes in white, yellow or rose gold in 10K, 14K or 18K, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver. You choose your center in the next step.

Buying guide

How channel setting works

In a channel setting, small stones sit side by side in a groove between two walls of metal, with no prongs between them. The walls protect the edges of the stones, the band stays smooth to the touch, and it is less likely to catch on clothing or hair than a pavé band with raised beads. That makes a channel set solitaire ring a practical choice for daily wear.

Styles to compare

  • Classic channel band: a straight row of lab-grown diamond accents leading to the center.
  • Wide band: a broader channel for a bolder look.
  • Cathedral: arched shoulders lift the center, on a couple of designs.
  • Bypass split shank: the band divides and curves past the center, with channel-set accents along it.
  • Half bezel and double claw prongs: some styles wrap metal partly around the center or hold it with paired prong tips.

Centers, metals and price

Every setting takes round, oval, cushion, pear, marquise, emerald, princess, radiant, Asscher and heart centers, and the product page also offers fancy blue, pink, yellow and green centers, with black on a couple of designs. Settings start under $300, and most are between about $800 and $1,450. That price is for the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
