Baguettes are long, narrow step-cut lab-grown diamonds. Their straight edges and broad facets give clean flashes of light instead of the scattered sparkle of round accents, which suits a crisp, architectural ring. Platinum is dense, naturally white and holds small stones securely, so it keeps baguettes snug in channels and bars. Over time it develops a soft satin patina that can be polished back to a shine.
A few designs are cut as men's engagement rings with flush-set or graduated accents.
Emerald cut centers are offered on most designs, since their step facets match the baguettes. Many designs also take round, oval, cushion, pear and other shapes, and some are listed for a fancy colored or black center. Settings start at about $1,300, and most are between about $1,900 and $2,450. That covers the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
