Buying guide

What filigree adds to a ring

Filigree is decorative openwork: fine curls and lace-like patterns cut or shaped into the metal. On these rings it appears in the gallery under the center, on the shank or along the halo rim. It gives a peridot filigree ring a vintage look and lets light reach the stone from the sides. Some designs add milgrain beading, a vine-shaped shank or bezel-set shoulder accents.

About peridot

Peridot is the August birthstone, with a yellowish to olive green color. At about 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale it is softer than diamond, so a halo of accents helps guard its edges. Open filigree can collect dirt, so clean it now and then with warm soapy water and a soft brush.

Carat weight, metal and price

Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices include the peridot and start under $400 at the smallest size; most rings are between about $850 and $1,025.

Made to order

Each ring is made for you in 10–15 days. Shipping is free on orders over $500, returns are accepted within 30 days, and one resize is free within 60 days of delivery.
