Buying guide
A hidden halo is a row of small lab-grown diamond accents set around the base of the center, below the stone. From the top the center looks like a solitaire; from the side the halo shows a line of sparkle. The split shank divides the band into two strands as it reaches the center, which opens up the shoulders and gives the ring a wider, more sculpted look. On this setting the strands are pavé, lined with lab-grown diamond accents.
The setting is made for round, oval, pear, emerald, radiant, marquise, heart, cushion, princess and asscher centers. You choose the center in the next step, including colored centers in pink, blue, yellow, green or black. Elongated shapes like oval, pear and marquise draw the eye along the finger and suit the open split shank, while round and cushion centers sit compactly between the two strands.
Gold comes in white, yellow or rose, in 10K, 14K or 18K. Platinum is dense, naturally white and costs more than gold, and silver keeps the price lower. The setting starts from about $800, and most are around $2,500 in their typical metals. These prices are for the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
