A Promise, Perfected

Amethyst Split Shank Rings

An amethyst split shank ring divides the band into two strands as it reaches the center stone, giving a natural, treated amethyst a wider, more open frame. Many designs add a halo or double halo of lab-grown diamond accents, and others keep a solitaire center on a pave band. Choose from eight amethyst shapes in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide

Why choose a split shank

A split shank opens into two bands near the top of the ring. The split spreads the look of the center across the finger and gives room for extra lab-grown diamond accents along each strand. Nearly every design here adds pave to the shank. Some use a narrow split for a lighter look, others a triple row or a twisted strand. Open, looped or heart cut-out galleries under the center let light in from the side.

Halo, double halo or solitaire

A halo circles the amethyst with small lab-grown diamonds, which makes the center look larger and adds sparkle around the purple. A double halo adds a second ring of accents for an even bolder face. Solitaire designs leave the amethyst on its own, so all attention goes to the color and the split band below it. There is also a graduated pave style, a three stone design and a vintage look with engraved leaf sides.

Carat weight, metal and price

Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight, in round, oval, cushion, pear, emerald, marquise, heart and princess cuts. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, and every ring is also made in platinum and silver. Band widths on most designs run about 1.8 to 2.5 mm. Prices start under $400, and most rings fall between about $900 and $1,100 at their smallest option. Amethyst rates 7 on the Mohs scale, so it suits daily wear with some care.
