Buying guide
A halo is a border of small stones set right around the center. On a moissanite ring with a lab-grown diamond halo, the accents add sparkle at the edge and make the center look larger from above. A double halo adds a second row for more width and light. Nearly every design here pairs the halo with a pavé band, and some split the shank into two strands. A few take a floral, vintage milgrain or filigree direction.
Every design comes in round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald cut, pear, marquise and heart shapes, and the halo follows the outline of the center. Carat options run from 1 to 9 carats total weight. Moissanite rates 9.25 on the Mohs scale, just below diamond, and shows more colorful fire, which the halo frames well.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, in white, yellow or rose. White gold and platinum make the halo blend with the center for a larger look, while yellow and rose gold set it off with a warm outline. Prices start under $350 for the complete ring, with most between about $800 and $1,000.
