Buying guide
A bezel is a thin rim of metal that wraps around the edge of a stone instead of holding it with prongs. It protects the girdle from chips and leaves nothing to snag. In this collection, the bezel appears in different places: some rings bezel-set the lab-grown pink sapphire itself, and many use small bezel-set lab-grown diamond accents along the band or around a halo, which gives a soft, beaded look.
A lab-grown pink sapphire is corundum, the same mineral as a natural sapphire, with the same hardness and color. It rates 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond, so it suits a ring worn every day. Growing the crystal in a lab gives even pink color at a far lower cost than a natural pink sapphire of the same size.
Oval is offered on every design, and most also come in round and marquise. Rose gold warms the pink, while platinum and white gold frame it in a cool tone. Gold designs come in 10K, 14K or 18K, and band widths run about 2 to 2.5 mm on most. A lab-grown pink sapphire bezel set ring starts under $400, and most are between about $900 and $2,000.
