About lab-grown emerald

A lab-grown emerald is green beryl, the same mineral as a natural emerald, grown under controlled conditions. It has the same green color and rates 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. Lab-grown emerald is more brittle than diamond, so it is best kept away from hard knocks.

Why choose a curved band

Many engagement rings have a center that sits low or a halo that is wider than the band. A straight band leaves a gap beside such a ring. A curved or contour band follows the shape of the center so the two rings sit together without a gap. A curved band also looks good worn alone or stacked.

Styles in this collection

  • Pave contour: a row of small lab-grown emeralds on a gentle curve, some as half eternity bands.
  • Chevron and V: a sharper point at the center, with marquise and round stones on some designs.
  • Two stone open bands: a pair of pear or princess cut lab-grown emeralds at the open ends.
  • Floral and leaf clusters: marquise lab-grown emeralds arranged as leaves.

Most designs offer from 0.25 or 0.35 to 0.5 carats total weight, and some go to 0.75 or 1 carat. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $200, and most bands are between about $550 and $750.
