Buying guide
Round lab-grown diamonds give the most sparkle and the classic solitaire necklace look. Ovals, pears and marquise stones are longer, so they look larger for their weight and point gently down the neckline. Emerald and asscher cuts are step cuts with clean, mirror-like facets, and princess, cushion and radiant cuts sit between the two in sparkle. A heart-shaped pendant gives a softer, more playful look.
The bail is the loop that joins the pendant to the chain. A split bail divides into two arms that frame the top of the stone. A V-shaped bail suits pear, marquise and heart shapes, and a tall bar bail lifts the stone a little higher. A small bail lets the pendant slide along the chain, while a fixed one keeps it centered. These solitaire pendants start at about $250, and most are between about $600 and $850.

For most people, a stone of about 0.5 to 1 carat is the sweet spot for a solitaire necklace: it is easy to see across a room but still sits lightly for everyday wear. Smaller stones, around 0.25 carat, suit a delicate layered look, while 1.5 carats and up make a statement. Lab-grown diamonds cost far less than natural diamonds of the same size, so a larger stone is easier to reach. Most of our solitaire pendants offer 1 to 9 carats total weight, and a few start at half a carat or less.
Yes. A solitaire necklace is one of the most lasting jewelry styles and is worn every day, alone or layered with other chains. Fancy shapes such as oval, pear and emerald cut are popular for a fresher take on the classic round. A bezel set solitaire pendant gives a clean, modern look that suits casual and dressy outfits alike.
