A Promise, Perfected

Gemstone Bypass Rings

A gemstone bypass ring wraps the band past the center from each side, so the two ends overlap and cradle the stone. Pick from colored gemstones in eight shapes, with plain, flat, leaf or split shank bands, in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide

The gemstones and where they come from

Each gem keeps its own origin:

  • Lab-grown: lab-grown ruby, lab-grown blue, pink and yellow sapphire, and lab-grown emerald.
  • Natural, treated: tanzanite, aquamarine, amethyst, citrine, garnet, peridot and blue topaz.

Lab-grown ruby and sapphire rate 9 on the Mohs scale and are the toughest choices for daily wear. Softer stones such as tanzanite and peridot need more care.

Bypass styles

Most designs are bypass solitaires, with a plain polished band or a wide flat band and nothing to distract from the color. Some shape the wrap into leaves, one with lab-grown diamond pave. Others add a bezel-set center with lab-grown diamond side stones, or split the shank and line it with channel set accents. Band widths range from about 1.8 to 2.5 mm on most designs that offer a choice.

Carat weight, metal and price

Most designs offer 1 to 9 carats total weight, and a few start at smaller weights. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $250, and most rings are between about $800 and $1,025.

Made to order

Each ring is made for you in 10–15 days. Shipping is free on orders over $500, returns are accepted within 30 days, and one resize is free within 60 days of delivery.
