A Promise, Perfected

Gemstone Filigree Rings

Filigree gemstone rings set a colored gemstone above fine, open scrollwork with a vintage feel. Every design adds lab-grown diamond pave, and most circle the center with a halo or a hidden halo. Choose round, oval, cushion, pear, emerald, princess, marquise or heart, in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide

What filigree is

Filigree is decorative openwork: thin lines of metal shaped into loops, scrolls and lace-like patterns. On these rings it sits mainly in the gallery under the center, so the detail shows from the side. The open metal lets light into the colored gemstone and keeps the head light.

How the designs differ

  • Halo with three-row pave band: the most sparkle across the top and band.
  • Hidden halo: lab-grown diamonds under the center, seen in profile.
  • Leaf halo with vine shank: a floral look with a scalloped rim.
  • Milgrain halo: beaded edges and bezel-set accents on the shoulders.

Choosing the colored gemstone

  • Lab-grown ruby, emerald, and blue, pink or yellow sapphire.
  • Natural, treated: tanzanite, aquamarine, amethyst, citrine, garnet, peridot and blue topaz.

Lab-grown ruby and sapphire are 9 on the Mohs scale and the hardest choices for daily wear. Aquamarine, blue topaz and lab-grown emerald sit around 7.5 to 8, while amethyst, citrine, garnet, peridot and tanzanite are a little softer and do best with some care.

Size, metal and price

Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight, chosen on the product page. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, and platinum and silver are offered too. Prices start under $400, and most rings are between about $850 and $1,000 at their smallest option.
