Buying guide
A princess cut has a square face and sharp corners. A halo follows that square outline, adds sparkle around the edges and helps guard the corners, which are the most delicate part of the stone. Some designs use claw prongs at the corners, a bezel-set halo, or a beaded or contoured halo for a different outline.
A single halo is the classic choice. A double halo, found on a few designs, adds a second row of lab-grown diamond accents for more size. Most designs pair the halo with a pave band, and many lean vintage with milgrain edges, filigree or engraving. Split shank and bypass bands open the shoulders for a more detailed look, and a few designs add three stone or side stone accents.
Most designs can also be made for a fancy pink, blue, yellow or green center, and some for a black center. You choose the center in the next step, and the setting price shown covers the ring only; the center is priced when you choose it.
Every design comes in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow gold. Settings start from about $600, and most are between about $850 and $1,100.
