A halo is a ring of small stones set around the center stone. It adds sparkle, makes the center look bigger, and protects its edges. Most designs pair the halo with a pave band; others keep the band plain or split it into two rows at the shoulders. A few designs use a double halo for more size, and some add a hidden halo under the center that shows from the side.
Yellow gold diamond halo rings give the white accents a warm setting that reads softer than platinum or white gold. Every setting comes in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow gold. Higher karats have a richer color, while 10K and 14K are a bit harder and more scratch resistant. Most designs can also take a fancy yellow, pink, green or blue center, and some are made for a black center.
Settings start from about $600, and most are between about $850 and $1,100. That price is for the setting; the center is priced when you choose it.
