Buying guide

What a halo does

A halo is a ring of small lab-grown diamonds set around a center stone. It adds sparkle and makes the center look larger, so a halo stud gives more presence on the ear than a solitaire stud of the same center size. The halo also follows the shape of the center, which brings out an oval or cushion outline.

Halo styles to compare

  • Classic halo: one even row of small stones around the center.
  • Double halo: two rows, here with marquise accents, for the boldest look.
  • Floral and beaded: a petal or beaded edge for a softer, vintage feel.
  • Bezel-set halo: stones in smooth metal rims, sleek and snag-free.
  • Low setting: sits closer to the ear for everyday comfort.

Gold, carat weight and price

Every pair comes in 10K, 14K or 18K white gold. 14K is a popular balance of durability and gold content. Carat options vary by design, from 0.75 carat to about 6 carats total weight. Some designs let you choose E–F or F–G color and VVS–VS or VS–SI clarity. Prices start around $600, and most pairs are between about $650 and $1,050.
