02 — The Metals

Choose a tone that lasts

Every metal we offer is solid and conflict-free. The right one comes down to the look you love and what flatters your skin.

White Gold

Cool, bright, and contemporary. Gold alloyed with white metals and finished with rhodium for a brilliant silver-white shine. Occasional re-plating keeps it at its whitest.

Yellow Gold

Warm, classic, and rich. The most traditional choice, and wonderfully low-maintenance — its color never needs refreshing.

Rose Gold

Soft, romantic, and distinctive. Copper in the alloy gives a blush hue that flatters every skin tone and deepens in character with time.

Platinum

The most precious and durable option. Naturally white, hypoallergenic, and dense — ideal for sensitive ears and holding diamonds securely.

03 — Diamond Settings

How the diamonds are held

The setting style changes both the sparkle and how secure your earrings feel day to day.

Prong / Basket

Slim claws lift the diamond so light floods in from every side — maximum brilliance. The classic stud setting.

Bezel

A rim of metal wraps the diamond completely. The most protected, snag-free option — ideal for active, everyday wear.

Halo

A ring of tiny diamonds encircles the centre stone, adding sparkle and making it look noticeably larger.

Pavé

Many micro-diamonds set close together for a continuous shimmer across hoops and drops.

04 — Backs & Fit

The part you'll feel every day

The fastening keeps your earrings secure and comfortable. Here are the most common, from easiest to most secure.

Push / Friction Back

A post with a grip-back that slides on. Quick and easy — the everyday standard for most studs.

Screw Back

The post threads into a screw-on back so it can't slip off. The most secure choice for diamond studs you'd hate to lose.

La Pousette

A push-button locking back that's both highly secure and easy to remove — a refined, comfortable upgrade.

Lever & Hook

Lever-backs snap shut for hoops and drops; French hooks slip through for an effortless, lightweight feel.

05 — Carat & Size

How big will they look?

Stud size is measured by total carat weight across the pair. Bigger isn't always better — choose what suits your everyday.

Total carat weight, to scale
0.25ctPetite
0.50ctClassic
1ctEveryday luxe
1.5ctStatement
2ctBold
3ct+Show-stopping

As a guide: 0.25–0.50ct total reads delicate and is perfect for a first pair or a second piercing; 1–2ct total is the sweet spot for everyday luxury; 3ct and above makes a real statement. Because our diamonds are lab-grown, the same budget buys a larger, higher-grade pair.

06 — Sizing & Care

Keep them bright for life

Everyday wear

  • Put earrings on last — after hair, makeup and perfume — to keep them free of residue.
  • Remove them before showering, swimming and sleeping (secure huggies aside).
  • Check the backs are firmly fastened before you head out.
  • Store pairs together in a lined box or a dedicated earring slot.

Cleaning

  • Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then gently brush behind the diamond with a soft toothbrush.
  • Rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth — a weekly clean keeps them sparkling.
  • White gold can be re-plated with rhodium periodically to restore its bright finish.
  • Every Renaissance Jewel pair includes a lifetime warranty with free cleaning & inspection.
07 — Questions

Frequently asked

What's the best earring back for diamond studs?

Friction backs are easy and fine for everyday wear; screw backs and La Pousette locking backs are the most secure and well worth it for diamond studs you don't want to lose.

What stud size should I choose?

0.25–0.50ct total is delicate and great for a first pair; 1–2ct total is the everyday-luxury sweet spot; 3ct and above makes a statement. Total carat weight is split across both earrings.

Are lab-grown diamond earrings real diamonds?

Yes — they are chemically and optically identical to mined diamonds, independently graded, conflict-free, and offer more sparkle for your budget.

Can I sleep or shower in my earrings?

Secure huggies can often be slept in, but we recommend removing studs and drops before sleeping, showering and swimming to protect both the earrings and your ears.

Will the metal irritate sensitive ears?

Solid gold and platinum posts are far gentler than plated alloys. Platinum is naturally hypoallergenic and the best choice for very sensitive ears.

How long does a made-to-order pair take?

Most earrings are handcrafted to order. Production timelines are shown at checkout, and our team is happy to advise on timing for a specific date.
