In a channel setting, the accent stones sit side by side in a track cut into the band, held by the metal walls on each side. There are no prongs to catch on sweaters or hair, and the stones are well protected. The look is smooth and tailored, with a clean line of sparkle running toward the center.
Most settings take a round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald, asscher, radiant, pear, marquise or heart center, and most can also hold a fancy blue, pink, yellow or green center. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K rose gold. Setting prices start from about $800, and most are between about $1,150 and $1,500. The price covers the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
