A Promise, Perfected

Pear Bypass Rings

A pear bypass ring wraps the band around the center so the two ends pass each other instead of meeting in a straight line. These pear shaped bypass ring settings range from plain solitaires to pave, split shank, leaf and halo styles, with lab-grown diamond accents. You choose the center in the next step. Every design comes in gold, platinum or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide

How a bypass band frames a pear

A pear has a rounded end and a pointed tip, so it already looks like it is moving. A bypass band follows that line: the shank curves up one side of the center and down the other, often at a slight angle. The result is an open, flowing ring that sits naturally on the finger. Many designs set the pear on a slight tilt, which suits a hand with longer fingers and adds a modern feel.

Plain, pave and side stone styles

  • Solitaire bypass: a plain or wide stepped band that keeps the focus on the center.
  • Pave bypass: small lab-grown diamond accents along one or both arms, in wave, swirl or graduated patterns.
  • Side stones and split shanks: marquise side stones, channel set accents or a split band add width and sparkle.
  • Floral and leaf: leaf shoulders or pave leaf panels for a softer, nature-inspired look.

Many settings take a fancy color center such as yellow, blue, pink or green, and some take black.

Metal and price

Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, in white, yellow or rose. Platinum is the most durable choice for thin bypass arms, and silver is the lightest on the budget. Settings start under $200, and most are between about $800 and $1,150. That price is for the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
