A Promise, Perfected

Moissanite Split Shank Rings

A moissanite split shank ring divides the band into two strands as it rises to the center, which makes the top look wider and the moissanite larger. Choose a round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald, pear, marquise or heart moissanite, then white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver. Nearly every design sets lab-grown diamond accents along the split band.

Buying guide

What a split shank does

The shank is the band of the ring. In a split shank, it separates into two strands near the top and joins the setting at four points. That spreads the look across more of the finger and gives room for two rows of pave. It suits larger centers and long shapes like oval, pear and marquise.

Styles to compare

  • Halo with pave split shank: the most common look here, with a frame of accents around the moissanite.
  • Double halo: two rings of accents for a bigger top.
  • Solitaire: the moissanite alone on a pave or graduated pave split band.
  • Twisted and engraved: a few designs twist the strands or add engraved leaf sides.

Carat weight, metal and price

Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight. Moissanite rates 9.25 on the Mohs scale and shows strong fire, so it works well in an engagement ring worn every day. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $400, and most rings are between about $875 and $1,100 at their smallest option.
