Buying guide
A moissanite flower ring can put the petals around the center, as in a floral halo or a star-shaped halo, or keep the center plain and move the nature details to the band. Leaf and vine designs wrap the shank with sculpted leaves, curls or a twisted vine, and some cross over in a bypass shape. About half the range is solitaires, which keep the center on its own with the floral work below or beside it. Others add pavé, bezel-set accents or a double halo.
Every design comes in round, oval, cushion, princess, emerald cut, pear, marquise and heart shapes. Pear and marquise centers echo the outline of a leaf or petal, while a round or cushion center sits naturally in a flower halo. Carat options run from 1 to 9 carats total weight. Moissanite rates 9.25 on the Mohs scale and throws off colorful flashes of light, so it suits a ring worn every day.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, in white, yellow or rose. Yellow and rose gold give leaves and vines a warm, botanical look, while platinum and white gold keep the focus on the stone. Prices start under $350 for the complete ring, and most fall between about $750 and $1,000.
