Gold Emerald Cut Solitaire Engagement Rings

A gold emerald cut solitaire engagement ring puts one rectangular step-cut center on a simple band, so the shape and its clean lines lead. Every setting here comes in white, yellow or rose gold. Choose a plain band, pavé with small lab-grown diamond accents, a twisted or vintage band, or a cathedral or bezel setting. You choose the center stone in the next step.

Buying guide

Why the emerald cut works as a solitaire

An emerald cut has long, flat step facets and cut corners. It shows a calm, mirror-like flash and an elegant outline, and its length makes the finger look slimmer. A solitaire keeps nothing around the center, so the cut itself is the design. Because step facets show inclusions more than brilliant cuts do, clarity matters a little more when you pick the center.

Band and setting styles

  • Plain bands: the purest look, from thin and rounded to wide and sculpted.
  • Pavé: about half of the settings add small accents along the band.
  • Twisted and vintage: many settings twist the band or add milgrain, engraving or filigree.
  • Cathedral and hidden halo: some lift the center on arches, or tuck a hidden row of accents beneath it.
  • Bezel: some wrap the center in a thin metal rim, a smooth choice for active hands.
  • Bypass and tension-style: a few sweep the band past the center, and a few use a tension-style look.

Gold and price

Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Yellow gold gives a warm, classic frame to a step-cut center, white gold reads cool and modern, and rose gold adds a soft pink tone. Most settings can also be ordered for a fancy color center such as pink, blue, yellow or green, and some for a black center. Prices start under $450 for the setting, and most are between about $830 and $1,070; the center is priced when you choose it.
