Gold Oval Solitaire Engagement Rings

A solitaire oval gold engagement ring holds one oval center on a gold band, and you choose that center in the next step. Every setting comes in yellow, rose or white gold. Bands range from thin and plain to pave, twisted, split shank and cathedral styles, and some designs use a bezel or a hidden halo. Most settings also take a fancy yellow, blue, pink or green center.

Buying guide

Why choose an oval solitaire

An oval center is long and soft-edged, so it covers more of the finger and makes the hand look slimmer. A solitaire keeps it as the only large stone, which puts the focus on its shape and sparkle. Prongs leave more of the stone open to light, while a bezel wraps the edge in metal for a smooth, secure setting.

Choosing the band

  • Plain: thin, rounded or wide bands keep the ring simple.
  • Pave: lab-grown diamond accents line the band for sparkle without a second large stone.
  • Hidden halo: a row of lab-grown diamond accents sits under the center, seen from the side.
  • Cathedral and split shank: raised arches or a band that splits near the center add height and shape.
  • Vintage: milgrain, engraving, floral and twisted details.

Gold, band width and price

Every design comes in 10K, 14K or 18K gold. Yellow gold gives a warm, classic look, rose gold a soft pink tone, and white gold the brightest frame for a colorless center. Many designs let you pick a band width, mostly between about 1.8 and 2.5 mm. The price shown is for the setting only, from about $400 and mostly between about $850 and $1,100; the center is priced when you choose it.
