A Promise, Perfected

Filigree Halo Engagement Rings

A filigree halo engagement ring surrounds the center with lab-grown diamond accents and adds openwork scrolls beneath or beside it. These vintage-style settings mix the halo with leaf shoulders, scroll galleries, milgrain and pavé bands. Choose white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver; the center comes in the next step.

Buying guide

How the halo and filigree work together

The halo makes the center look larger and adds sparkle at the top of the ring. The filigree sits lower, in the gallery, the shoulders or the band, so the ring stays detailed from the side as well as from above. Some designs bead the halo with milgrain, and some add bezel-set accents or a graduated leaf pattern.

Details to compare

  • Pavé band: lab-grown diamond accents continue down the shank on many designs.
  • Scroll band: openwork replaces stones for a quieter, metal-led look.
  • Split shank and bypass: a divided or crossing band on a few designs.
  • Side stones: extra accents next to the halo on some designs.

Center, metal and price

Most designs take any center shape and offer fancy-color centers in blue, pink, yellow or green; a halo in white metal makes a colored center stand out. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Settings start under $250, and most fall between about $820 and $1,150 for the setting alone.
