A bezel is a thin wall of metal that wraps around the edge of the stone instead of prongs. It protects the lab-grown diamond from knocks, has no tips to catch on hair or clothing, and gives a smooth, clean outline. Yellow gold around the stone adds a warm frame, and a stepped or wide bezel makes the pendant look bolder.
Most designs offer 1 to 6 carats total weight, some go up to 9 carats, and a few start at 0.5 carat. Gold comes in 10K, the hardest and most affordable, or 14K, with a richer yellow. Some designs let you pick D, E or F color and VVS1, VVS2 or VS1 clarity. Pendants start under $800, and most are about $800.
