Buying guide

What baguettes bring to an earring

A baguette is a long, narrow stone with straight facets that run the length of the cut. Instead of the scattered sparkle of a round brilliant, it gives flashes of light in clean lines. That makes baguette lab-grown diamonds good for structure: lined up in a channel around a hoop, angled into a cluster, or set as tapered accents around a center stone. Paired with round lab-grown diamonds, they add contrast in shape and texture.

Studs or hoops

  • Studs: most designs here are studs, from angled clusters and staggered three stone layouts to mosaic and snowflake clusters. They sit flat on the lobe and suit everyday wear.
  • Hoops: some designs are hoops with baguettes in a channel, graduated from larger to smaller, or fanned out in a sunburst. A channel setting holds each stone between two metal walls, so the edges are protected.

Gold karat and price

Every design comes in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow gold. 14K is the usual balance of color and durability; 18K has a richer yellow tone and is a little softer; 10K is the hardest wearing and costs the least. Some designs also let you pick the total carat weight on the product page. Prices start under $300, and most pairs are between about $600 and $700.
