A three stone ring sets a larger center between two smaller side stones. On these settings the sides are lab-grown diamonds, and most designs use round side stones, while a few use pear or marquise sides for a longer, tapered look. Pave adds a line of small lab-grown diamonds to the band or shoulders, so the 3 stone ring with pave diamonds has sparkle from the top all the way down the band.
Gold designs come in 10K, 14K or 18K white, yellow or rose gold. White gold and platinum make colorless stones look whiter; yellow and rose gold add warmth. Platinum is the most hard-wearing, and silver keeps the cost lowest. Where band widths are offered, they run from about 1.8 to 2.8 mm.
