In a channel setting, the stones sit side by side in a groove cut between two walls of metal. The walls grip the edges of each stone, so nothing stands up to catch on sweaters, gloves or hair. The top of the band stays smooth, and the row of moissanite reads as one continuous line of sparkle. Plain outer walls keep the look clean and let the band sit flush against an engagement ring.
The moissanite runs across the top of the band, where it shows, and the lower half is plain metal. That plain section makes the band more comfortable between the fingers, and it leaves room to resize the ring later, which a full circle of stones does not. Moissanite rates 9.25 on the Mohs scale, so it stands up well to daily wear, and it gives off strong, colorful flashes of light.
