The Celtic knot design

A Celtic knot is an interlaced pattern with no beginning or end, drawn from old Irish and Scottish art. It is often read as a sign of lasting connection, which is why a Celtic knot lab-grown emerald ring is a popular engagement choice. The green of a lab-grown emerald pairs naturally with the knot's heritage.

About lab-grown emerald

A lab-grown emerald has the same chemistry and crystal structure as a natural emerald and the same green color. It is grown under controlled conditions, so it is usually cleaner than a natural emerald of similar size and costs far less. Lab-grown emerald rates about 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale: hard enough for daily wear, but a solitaire setting should be kept away from hard knocks.

Shape, carat and band width

Round and cushion shapes give a soft, balanced look; oval, pear and marquise lengthen the finger; the emerald cut shows the stone's color in long, clean steps. Carat options run from 1 to 9 carats total weight, and the band comes in 2, 2.2 or 2.5 mm widths. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $450 for the smallest option.
