Buying guide

What pavé adds to a floral design

Pavé means many small stones set close together, held by tiny beads of metal, so the surface looks paved with sparkle. On a flower or leaf it outlines each petal or fills the whole shape, which gives a soft, even shine. Several designs here mix pavé with polished metal veins or leaves, so the texture of the plant reads clearly.

Studs, drops and climbers

  • Stud earrings: three-petal flowers, olive branches and sculpted leaves that sit on the lobe.
  • Drop earrings: olive branches with linked leaves, dewdrop flowers and marquise floral outlines that move as you do.
  • Huggie drops: a small pavé hoop with a leaf or floral fan hanging below.
  • Ear climber: plumeria rosettes that follow the curve of the ear.

Carat weight, metal and price

Carat options are the total weight of every lab-grown diamond in the pair, and they vary by design, from under a tenth of a carat on the smallest studs to 3 carats on the fullest drops. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, and platinum is offered across the range. Prices start under $100, and most pairs cost between about $850 and $1,400.
