Ovals, pears and marquise stones are brilliant cuts that give a bright, continuous sparkle and form a decorative line, and pears can alternate direction for a playful pattern. Emerald cut, asscher cut and baguette stones are step cuts with clean, flat facets; they give a sleek, tailored look that pairs well with step-cut engagement rings. Hearts set end to end make a softer, romantic eternity band.
Because the stones run all the way around, an eternity band is made to one exact size. A full eternity band cannot be resized: the one free size change within 60 days means remaking the band. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are a little larger, and choose a size that slides over the knuckle with slight resistance. Many designs offer 2 to 7 carats total weight, and a few start under 1 carat. Bands start under $200, and most are between about $1,000 and $1,400.
