A halo is a frame of small lab-grown diamonds set around the center stone. Around a round brilliant, it adds a second ring of sparkle and can make the center look noticeably larger than its own size. It also protects the girdle of the center from knocks. A double halo adds a second frame for more presence, and a bezel or beaded halo gives a softer outline.
Most designs also offer fancy yellow, pink, blue and green centers, and some take a black center.
Every setting comes in white, yellow or rose gold, in 10K, 14K or 18K. White gold matches a colorless halo, while yellow and rose gold warm up the look. The price shown is for the setting: settings start around $625, and most fall between about $875 and $1,100. Your center is priced when you choose it. Lab-grown diamonds cost far less than natural diamonds of the same size.
