Three Stone Baguette Engagement Rings

A 3 stone baguette engagement ring sets your chosen center between two baguette side stones, usually tapered so they narrow toward the band. Most settings take round, oval, cushion, emerald, princess, radiant, asscher, marquise, pear and heart centers, an elongated old mine cushion setting is also offered, and every style comes in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide

Why tapered baguettes suit a three stone ring

Tapered baguettes are step-cut stones that are wider at one end than the other. Set with the wide end against the center and the narrow end toward the band, they lead the eye to the middle stone and make it look larger. Their long, flat facets give bright flashes of light that contrast with the sparkle of a brilliant cut center. In a three stone engagement ring with baguette side stones, the two side stones also protect the edges of the center.

Ways the baguettes are set

  • Prong or claw set: the classic baguette trilogy ring, with the side stones held at their corners.
  • Bar set: thin metal bars hold each baguette at its ends, leaving the long sides open to light.
  • Flush set: a men's emerald cut setting sinks the baguettes into the metal for a smooth, low profile.

Matching the center shape

Emerald and asscher centers share the step-cut facets of baguettes, so the three stones read as one clean, geometric line. Round, oval and pear centers add contrast between brilliant sparkle and straight edges. Many settings also accept a fancy blue, pink, yellow or green center, chosen in the next step. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Settings start under $500, and most are about $1,300 to $1,500; the center is priced when you choose it.
