An asscher cut is a square step cut with clipped corners, and its facets run in straight lines. Baguettes are step cut too, so they echo the center's look instead of competing with it. Tapered baguettes narrow toward the band and lead the eye to the center. The pairing keeps the ring looking crisp and geometric, and the baguettes add width across the hand without crowding the center.
Each setting takes a colorless center or a fancy pink, blue, yellow or green one, and some are made for a black center. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Prices start under $350 for the setting, and most sit between about $775 and $1,350; the center is priced when you choose it.
