An amethyst eternity band sets a row of natural, treated amethysts along the band. Most designs are half eternity bands with stones across the top, and a few are full eternity rings with stones all the way around. Choose round stones or marquise, pear, princess and emerald cuts, in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

Buying guide
An amethyst half eternity ring carries stones across the top and leaves plain metal underneath. It is comfortable for daily wear, sits easily beside an engagement ring, and can be resized later. A full eternity band has amethysts all the way around, so the purple shows from every side. Because the stones circle the whole band, a full eternity ring needs to be ordered in the right size.
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and the birthstone for February. It rates 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, so it holds up well in a band worn often, though a hard knock against stone or metal can scratch or chip it. The color runs from soft lilac to deep violet. Take the band off for heavy work, and clean it with warm, soapy water and a soft brush.
Prices start under $200, and most bands are between about $500 and $750.
Each band is made for you in 10–15 days. Shipping is free on orders over $500, returns are accepted within 30 days, and one resize is free within 60 days of delivery. Full eternity bands can't be resized, so for those the one free size change means remaking the band.
