A solitaire has a single center stone. With a marquise, a long boat shape with two pointed ends, the outline looks larger than a round of the same carat weight and makes the finger look longer. Yellow gold adds warmth and a vintage feel. A solitaire can still carry small lab-grown diamond accents in the band; what it never has is a second center or a halo around the center.
