Buying guide

How a bezel holds a yellow center

A bezel is a thin wall of metal that wraps the edge of the center stone. A full bezel circles the whole stone, while a half bezel covers two sides and leaves the others open to more light. Both protect the edge from knocks and keep the ring smooth against clothing. The metal rim also frames the yellow color, which can make the center look a little larger.

Styles in the range

  • Bezel solitaire: one bezel set center on a plain or sculpted band.
  • Halo and cluster: lab-grown diamond accents around the bezel for more sparkle.
  • Vintage and milgrain: beaded edges and detailed metalwork for a period look.
  • Pave, station and three stone: lab-grown diamond accents or small bezels set along the band.

Choosing a metal and price

Yellow gold deepens a yellow center's color, while white gold, platinum and silver make it stand out against a cool tone. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Settings start under $200, and most are between about $750 and $1,600. The price is for the setting; the center is priced when you choose it.
