Lab-grown sapphire rates 9 on the Mohs scale, so it suits a ring worn every day. Pick the color first, then the shape, since the halo follows the outline of the center.
Most designs pair the halo with a pave band; split shank, floral, vintage and filigree bands appear on some. Almost every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight, the combined weight of the stones in the ring. Bands are mostly about 1.8 to 2.5 mm wide.
