A chevron band forms a V at the top of the ring, pointing toward or away from the finger. The shape draws the eye to the center stone and gives the ring a modern, graphic outline. It also lets a curved or V-shaped wedding band nest neatly against it later. Here the V is set with small lab-grown diamond accents in pavé, so the band adds sparkle without competing with the center.
Pointed shapes, such as pear and marquise, echo the angle of the chevron and make the whole ring look longer on the finger. Round, oval and cushion centers soften the geometry. Princess, Asscher, emerald and radiant cuts pair their straight edges with the band's clean lines. A fancy yellow, blue, pink or green center is also possible in the same setting.
White gold is offered in 10K, 14K or 18K. Pavé settings hold many small stones, so a sturdy alloy and an occasional check of the accents keep the ring in good shape. The setting starts from about $1,100, and most are about $1,200; the center is priced when you choose it.
