A solitaire has one main stone. Adding side stones to the band keeps that single center as the focus while bringing light down the shank. Unlike a three stone ring, the accents here are smaller rounds spread along the band, so the top view still reads as a classic solitaire. A basket head is also offered, where a small rim joins the prongs below the center for extra support.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Platinum is dense and durable, which helps hold small accents securely, while silver keeps the cost lowest. Some designs can also be ordered for a fancy yellow, green, blue or pink center, or a black center. Settings start under $350, and most are about $1,000 to $1,080. That price is for the setting only; the center is priced when you choose it.
