A lab-grown sapphire has the same chemistry, hardness and optical properties as a natural sapphire; it is grown in controlled conditions instead of mined. Lab-grown sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond, so a lab-grown yellow sapphire holds up well to everyday wear. The round cut spreads light evenly and gives the yellow a lively, even glow from every angle.
