Buying guide
A bezel is a band of metal that surrounds a stone instead of holding it with prongs. On this page the bezel shows up in different places: some designs wrap the center in a bezel inside the halo, some put a bezel rim on the halo itself, and others add bezel-set accents as stations around the halo or on the gallery under the center. Check the product photos to see which look you prefer.
Most of these settings have a vintage feel, and many add milgrain, the tiny beaded edge along the metal. Pave shoulders with lab-grown diamond accents are common, and a few designs add filigree, a cluster halo or a three stone layout. Settings are made for a fancy color center as well, in pink, blue, yellow or green, and some take a black center.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, and platinum and silver are offered too. White gold and platinum keep the halo bright and cool; yellow and rose gold suit the vintage designs. Settings start under $250, and most cost about $750 to $1,100. That price is for the setting only; the center stone is priced when you choose it in the next step.
