A Promise, Perfected

Oval Lab-Grown Emerald Rings

An oval lab-grown emerald ring sets a green lab-grown emerald in a long, soft outline that flatters the hand. Choose a plain solitaire, a halo, a pave band or a three stone design, many with lab-grown diamond accents. Every ring comes in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver.

About lab-grown emerald

A lab-grown emerald has the same chemistry and green color as a natural emerald, grown under controlled conditions. Lab-grown emerald rates 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs hardness scale, so it suits a ring, though it is more brittle than sapphire and should be kept away from hard knocks. Remove the ring for heavy work, and clean it with warm, soapy water and a soft brush rather than an ultrasonic cleaner.

Choosing a style for an oval lab-grown emerald

  • Solitaire: the lab-grown emerald alone on the band, so the green is the whole focus.
  • Halo and double halo: a ring of lab-grown diamond accents frames the oval, adding sparkle and making the center look larger. A hidden halo sits under the center and shows from the side.
  • Pave and side stones: an oval lab-grown emerald ring with small lab-grown diamonds along the band, or baguette, pear or marquise side stones.
  • Three stone, vintage and split shank: for a more detailed look, with milgrain, filigree or twisted bands on some designs.

Metal, carat weight and price

Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Yellow and rose gold warm the green, while white gold, platinum and silver give it a cooler, crisper frame. Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight. Prices start under $300, and most rings are between about $750 and $1,050. Lab-grown emerald, like other lab-grown stones, has little resale value, so choose it for the look.
