Each vintage oval aquamarine ring here pairs a natural, treated aquamarine with details drawn from older jewelry: milgrain edges, filigree galleries, engraving, floral shapes and halos of lab-grown diamond accents. Every design comes in white, yellow or rose gold, platinum, or Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver, and each ring is made to order.

Milgrain, a fine row of metal beads along the edges, appears on most of these rings and gives them a softly textured outline. Filigree adds openwork patterns in the gallery under the stone. Some designs carry engraving on the band or shoulders, and others use leaf and floral shapes. Many combine these details with a pave band or a halo, and a few keep the aquamarine as a solitaire.
Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl and the birthstone for March. Its color ranges from pale icy blue to a deeper sea blue. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, it is hard enough for a ring worn often, though a hard knock can still chip it. An oval cut has no sharp points and looks larger than a round stone of the same weight. Milgrain and engraving can trap dirt, so clean the ring with warm, soapy water and a soft brush.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Yellow and rose gold suit the period feel of a vintage ring, while white gold, platinum and silver match aquamarine's cool blue. The designs with a carat picker offer 1 to 9 carats total weight. Prices start under $350, and most rings fall between about $850 and $1,050.
