Buying guide
A marquise side stone has two points, so it adds movement that round accents don't. Set pointing outward, the accents lengthen the ring along the finger. Set at an angle, they fan out and make the center look wider. Grouped in threes or fives, they read as leaves or petals. A marquise side stone engagement ring suits a slender center like an oval or pear as well as a marquise.
A marquise center gives the most unified look, with the same shape repeated from center to shoulders. A round or cushion center adds contrast against the pointed sides. Emerald, Asscher and radiant centers bring straight edges, which makes the marquise accents stand out more. Every design here offers a marquise center; check each design for the other shapes.
Floral, cluster and bypass designs are common here, and some add a pavé band, a twisted band or a three stone layout. Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. Most designs can hold a fancy blue, yellow, pink or green center. Prices are for the setting only, from under $250 and mostly between about $850 and $1,400; the center is priced when you choose it.
