A bezel is a thin rim of metal that wraps around the edge of a stone instead of holding it with prongs. In a bezel set lab-grown sapphire ring, the rim protects the girdle from knocks, sits smoothly against clothing and frames the color with a line of metal. Some designs here bezel-set the small accents along the band or around a halo, while the lab-grown sapphire center sits in its own setting.
Designs include halo rings, a solitaire with a leaf vine band, a bypass ring with side stones, a three stone design and vintage pieces with milgrain and swirling filigree. Accents are lab-grown diamonds. Band widths run from about 2 to 2.8 mm on the designs that list them. These rings work as a bezel set lab-grown sapphire engagement ring or as a ring for everyday wear.
Blue is the classic color and looks crisp in platinum or white gold. Lab-grown pink sapphire is soft and warm next to rose gold, and lab-grown yellow sapphire pairs naturally with yellow gold. A lab-grown sapphire is real corundum, rated 9 on the Mohs scale, and costs far less than a natural sapphire of the same size and color. Prices start under $250 and most rings fall between about $900 and $2,000.
