Worn Close to the Heart

Lab-Grown Diamond Graduated Pendants

A graduated pendant sets a line of lab-grown diamonds that change size from one end to the other, so the eye follows the stones down or across the neckline. Styles include drops, curved bars, three stone and five stone pendants, open hearts and cluster designs, in white, yellow and rose gold and in silver.

Buying guide

Why graduated stones work on a pendant

When stones step down in size, a pendant gains a clear direction. A vertical drop looks longer and slimmer, a curved bar follows the line of the collarbone, and an open heart with graduated stones looks fuller at the top and finer at the point. The largest lab-grown diamond usually sits where the pendant catches the most light.

Styles to compare

  • Drop and teardrop: stones cascade from small to large down the chain.
  • Curved and bar: a row of stones set across the neckline, some bar set.
  • Three stone and five stone: a short line of round or princess cut lab-grown diamonds.
  • Open heart, swirl and cluster: softer shapes with graduated accents.

Metal, carat weight and price

Every design comes in white, yellow and rose gold in 10K or 14K, and in Silvadium, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver. Most designs offer about 0.5 to 3 carats total weight, and some go up to 5 or 6 carats. Prices start from about $215, and most pendants fall between about $600 and $725 at their smallest option.
