Buying guide
A gold marquise ring with side stones adds smaller lab-grown diamond accents next to the long, pointed center. Three stone settings are the most common here, with one accent on each side. Other designs line the shoulders with pave, set channel-set baguettes for a cleaner line, or pair the center with smaller marquise or pear side stones that echo its shape. A few add a halo, a split shank, a bypass band or a bezel around the center.
Band widths on designs that list them run from about 1.8 to 3.5 mm. Most designs can also be set with a fancy yellow, blue, pink or green center, and some with a black center.
Every design comes in white, yellow and rose gold, in 10K, 14K or 18K. Higher karats have more pure gold and a richer color; 14K is a common balance of color and hardness. Settings start from about $550, and most cost between about $1,100 and $1,400. The price shown is for the setting only. The center is chosen and priced in the next step.
