The emerald cut uses long, flat step facets under a wide table. It shows color depth more than sparkle, which suits a dark red stone like garnet: the rows of facets bring out flashes of lighter red across the face. Garnet rates about 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, so it handles daily wear with some care, and the cut corners of the emerald shape help protect it.
Many designs line the band with pavé lab-grown diamond accents, and many are solitaires. Others frame the garnet with a halo or double halo, flank it with baguette, pear or marquise side stones, or set it as a three stone ring. Split shank, twisted, vintage and bypass bands round out the range. Every design offers 1 to 9 carats total weight, and most bands are about 1.8 to 2.2 mm wide.
Yellow gold deepens garnet's warm red and gives a classic look. Rose gold blends with the red for a soft, tonal ring, while white gold sets up the strongest contrast. Prices start under $600, and most rings are between about $900 and $1,050.
