Gold bypass rings have a band that splits and sweeps past the center stone from opposite sides, so the setting looks like it is in motion. These are engagement ring settings in white, yellow or rose gold, with ten center shapes, and you choose the center stone in the next step. Styles range from clean solitaires to pavé and split shank bands.

In a bypass ring, the two ends of the band do not meet in a straight line under the center. They pass each other on either side, so the stone sits between two curves. The result is a soft S-shape that suits round, oval and pear centers well and gives sharper shapes such as princess or emerald cuts a little movement. Every design takes a round center, and nearly all also take marquise, cushion, radiant, princess, emerald, heart, pear, oval and Asscher.
About half the designs are bypass solitaires with a plain or lightly detailed band, and about half add pavé lab-grown diamond accents along the sweep. Others carry side stones, including marquise side stones, sit as three stone rings, or split the shank into channel set or pavé rows. A few add leaf shoulders, a twisted band, a halo or a bezel. Most designs can also be ordered for a fancy pink, blue, green or yellow center, and some for a black center.
Every bypass gold ring comes in 10K, 14K or 18K, including 14k gold bypass ring options in all three colors. Yellow gold gives the warmest look, rose gold a soft pink, and white gold a bright, cool finish. Settings start at about $600, and most are between about $850 and $1,150. The price covers the setting, and the center is priced when you choose it.
