The side stones shape the whole look of a trilogy ring. Round side stones keep it classic and balanced. Pear side stones curve toward the center and lengthen the ring on the finger. Baguette and trillion side stones give a sharper, more geometric outline, and a few designs use marquise or trapezoid sides. Most designs set lab-grown diamonds along the sides, and some add pave on the band.
Beyond the classic three stone shape, some settings add a halo around the center, a split shank, milgrain edges or vintage filigree and engraving. A few use a bezel, a bypass band or a twisted band. Most settings can be made for a fancy blue, pink, green or yellow center, and many for a black center. Most bands are about 1.8 to 2.5 mm wide.
Gold comes in 10K, 14K or 18K. White gold and platinum keep a white center looking bright, while yellow and rose gold give a warmer, softer look that suits the cushion's vintage feel. Settings start under $250, and most are between about $925 and $1,350. That price is for the setting; the center is priced when you choose it.
